Aurum Solutions open new offices in Portugal

December 4, 2023

Next-generation reconciliation software specialist, Aurum Solutions, has opened new offices in Braga, Portugal. This expansion marks a significant milestone in the company's global growth strategy.

With an unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence in financial technology, Aurum Solutions aims to grow its international presence by tapping into the rich talent pool found in the northwest of Portugal. With the country’s second-highest rate of higher education students in science and technology, according to Portugal’s Institute of National Statistics, and a burgeoning tech community in Braga, the location of Aurum's new offices offers many strategic advantages.

Braga has developed a reputation as the innovation hub for Portugal and the wider Iberian peninsula thanks to its thriving start-up ecosystem and world-class specialisms in software development, medical technology and automotive industries, to name a few. The decision to establish roots in Portugal underscores Aurum Solutions' confidence in the region's growth opportunities and aligns with its mission to deliver innovative reconciliation software solutions globally.

We've chosen to open our first European office to strengthen our presence there, serve our clients and connect with potential partners from other European countries. Braga was selected for its skilled workforce and thriving tech scene. However, we remain committed to exploring fast-growing markets in Latin America and Africa, where Portuguese and Spanish are prevalent languages.

Already making strides towards building a dynamic team in Braga, Aurum Solutions has successfully onboarded six developers, one marketing professional, and two consultants. The company envisions further expansion by recruiting many more talented individuals across the Braga office over the next year. Bruno Barbosa will be responsible for managing the office in Braga.

Establishing a new office in Portugal's Braga has been a challenging yet rewarding endeavour. Our choice reflects our aim to replicate the successes seen in the UK. The strategic proximity to the University of Minho is pivotal, offering access to a rich pool of top-tier tech talent crucial for our company's growth and objectives.

Bruno Barbossa, Chief Project Manager, Aurum

For the past two decades, Aurum has been working with companies spanning sectors including banking, betting, fintech, asset management, hospitality and insurance, amongst others, in over 35 countries. These have included hundreds of household brands both in the UK and globally, such as Stonegate Group, Octopus Investments, Ladbrokes, HTB, Admiral and more, supporting finance teams and transforming departments’ data quality and operational efficiency.

Dave Anfield, Chief Operating Officer Aurum Solutions, adds: “Aurum’s strengths are the product/service – and, of course, our people. Over the last few years, we have grown quickly and recruited some fantastic people in our Reading-based head office – the Thames Valley area and Reading University have allowed us to recruit and grow some great talent. As we expand further, Braga is a great strategic nearshore location for us to strengthen and diversify – like Reading/Thames Valley, Braga, and the Minho regions also have a strong concentration of tech talent and higher education students in science and technology. We’ve already started to forge strong relationships with our team there and look forward to going from strength to strength. Vamos!

“We are thrilled to announce the establishment of our new offices in Braga; this is a significant step towards our planned growth. It not only demonstrates our commitment to international expansion, but I believe it also shows our belief in geographic diversity and the benefits it can bring.”
